Sociology

I became interested in Sociology because I am a Psychology Major. A number of the Social Sciences interest me, but I chose Psychology because of the opportunities I believed it held and my interest in the human brain. Learning about Sociology has shown me the connections that it has to Psychology. I love the idea of looking at society and being able to categorize it and look at how we form the different cultures, classes, and other aspects of society.

Chapter Seven: Deviance and Crime

This link talks about the relationship between deviance and crime. It deciphers how criminologists view deviance connected with crime.

This link is from a textbook on the chapter of deviance and crime. It outlines the nature and theories of deviance and crime and the criminal justice system.

Kid Cudi ft. Ratatat "Pursuit of Happiness"

Chapter Seven deals with deviance and crime. I chose this chapter because I think that the way our corporate system is now that we have a lot of elite crime. There is also much crime in the other classes, and it affects everyone. I start out with looking at elite crime, with an article about the battle against white-collar crime. The image I used says deviance, a way to make daddy mad. The picture depicts someone who is far from what society would deem normal, due to his many piercings.
The video I used provides helpful information about organized crime, which was a component of Chapter Seven. The links I used provide insight from criminologists and how they deviance and its connection with crime. The second link I used talks about the criminal justice system, which was a component of the chapter. I used the song “Pursuit of Happiness” by Kid Cudi because he describes participating in several deviant behaviors, such as drinking and driving, and smoking marijuana.
